Cofnodion blodau 1af yr Alban a Chymru!

Postiwyd gan Catalena Angele ar 5 Mawrth 2013
Mae’r blagur ar y crocws yn dechrau troi’n borffor – efallai bydd yn agor yn fuan.
Rydw i’n gallu gweld y blagur ar y genhinen Bedr ond mae’n dal yn wyrdd.

Llongyfarchiadau i Tulliallan Primary School am anfon cofnodion blodau Bylbiau’r Gwanwyn cyntaf y flwyddyn! Dim ond un diwrnod oedd rhwng dyddiadau blodeuo’r crocysau a’r cennin Pedr, gyda’r crocysau yn blodeuo ar 17 Ionawr a’r cennin Pedr cyntaf yn blodeuo ar 18 Ionawr.

Gan fod yr Alban ymhellach i’r Gogledd na Chymru a Lloegr byddan nhw fel arfer yn cael gaeafau oerach a mwy o eira. Mae hyn yn golygu y bydd planhigion fel arfer yn blodeuo’n hwyrach. Llynedd agorodd y blodau yn gynt yng Nghymru a Lloegr, felly mae’n dipyn o syndod bod y blodau cyntaf eleni wedi ymddangos yn yr Alban! Dyma un o’r pethau gwych am fod yn wyddonydd – gall canlyniadau arbrofion yn aml ein synnu ni!

Yr ail ysgol i anfon eu cofnodion blodau ata i oedd Ysgol Nant Y Coed yn Llandudno. Agorodd crocysau tri o’r plant ar yr un diwrnod, 1 Mawrth. Dyma’r cofnodion cyntaf yng Nghymru, a hynny ar Ddydd G?yl Dewi! Da iawn Ysgol Nant Y Coed!

Ys gwn i ble fydd y blodau nesaf yn agor?

Pan fydd eich blodau chi’n agor, cofiwch anfon eich data ata i. Gallwch chi weld ar y map ble mae’r blodau wedi agor yn barod.

CYNGOR CRAFF

  1. Gall pob disgybl yn y dosbarth anfon eu cofnodion blodau. Mae’r holl ddata fyddwn ni’n ei dderbyn yn cael ei ddefnyddio i ganfod dyddiad blodeuo cyfartalog pob ysgol. Gwyliwch y siart crocysau a’r siart cennin Pedr i weld y tablau yn newid wrth i fwy o ddata gyrraedd. Mae’n bwysig ofnadwy bod pob disgybl yn anfon eu cofnodion, fel bod y wefan yn gallu cyfrifo dyddiad blodeuo cyfartalog yr ysgol.
  2. Bydd y cennin Pedr yn troi ei ben i lawr ychydig cyn blodeuo. Fydd y blodyn ddim wedyn yn llenwi â d?r ar ôl agor.

Byddwn i wrth fy modd yn gweld lluniau o’ch blodau chi hefyd. Gofynnwch i’ch athro e-bostio unrhyw ffotograffau ata i!

Dyw fy mhlanhigion i yma yng Nghaerdydd heb flodeuo eto. Mae’r blagur ar un o’r crocysau yn dechrau troi’n borffor, felly efallai eu bod nhw ar y ffordd. Mae blagur ar y cennin Pedr hefyd ond mae nhw dal yn wyrdd.

Eich cwestiynau, fy atebion:

St Nicholas Primary School rain gauge stolen. Prof P: Sorry to hear that St Nicholas Primary. I have put a new one into the post for you, I hope it arrives soon.

Ysgol Y Ffridd Glawiad Dydd Llun yn llawn ers y gwyliau. Athro'r Ardd: Mae'n rhaid ei bod hi wedi bwrw hen wragedd a ffyn yn yr ysgol dros y gwyliau! Diolch am roi gwybod i fi.

Milford Haven Junior School Temp in playground was much colder because of the wind chill factor. Prof P: Brrrr! I hope you were all wrapped up warm when you went outside to play.

Ysgol Porth Y Felin to pp we have a problem with one of the plants. It has creamy browny little things in the pot that look like mini shell pastas. We don't know what they are. ysgol porth y felin. Prof P: Gosh, they sound curious. I wonder if they could be the brownish leaves that protect the plant just before the shoots start to grow? Maybe you could take a photo and ask your teacher to send it to me? I might know what they are if I saw them!

Ysgol Nant Y Coed We have buds on the crocus and daffodils now but none of them have opened yet. The mystery bulb has grown the biggest! Prof P: That’s great news! Keep an eye on them and let me know as soon as they open.

Darran Park Primary Mystery plant has grown quite well the rest of the bulbs are slowly growing. Prof P: Thanks for your plant update Darran Park Primary.

Glyncollen Primary School Many thanks for our new rain gauge. You also sent us a new thermometer but on a slip of paper in the box it said St. Mary's. We were wondering if it was meant for us or should we send it back to you? Can you please let us know. The leaves on our flowers are growing well. Bye for now - Yr.4 Prof P: Oops! I sent out two rain gauges on the same day and things must have got mixed up. Sorry Glyncollen. I have emailed your teacher about the thermometer – thanks for letting me know about the mix up.

Greyfriars RC Primary School Dear Professor Plant, we are a bit confused because only one crocus is flowering and only one daffodil is flowering. Prof P: Congratulations Greyfriars School! You are now the second Scottish School to have flowers! You now need to enter you flower data on to the website to make it OFFICIAL! Remember: You can enter flower data as soon the very first flower opens. You record the date it opened and the height of the tallest part of your plant. Then as each new flower opens you can enter its data on the website too – you don’t have to wait until they are all open. Plants grow at different rates – some grow quickly, some take longer to grow - just like children! I am sure your other flowers will 'catch up' soon.

Diolch yn fawr

Wythnos Hinsawdd 4-10 Mawrth 2013

Postiwyd gan Catalena Angele ar 26 Chwefror 2013
Mae nifer o’r gwyddonwyr gorau yn cytuno bod lefelau llygredd yn cyfrannu at gynhesu byd-eang

Helo blantos y bylbiau!

Mae hi’n Wythnos Genedlaethol Hinsawdd wythnos nesaf – amser da i feddwl am newid hinsawdd, sut mae’n effeithio arnon ni a sut allwn ni ofalu am y blaned.

Ers 150 mlynedd mae gwyddonwyr ym mhob rhan o’r byd wedi bod yn mesur tymheredd a glawiad, yn union fel y byddwch chi’n ei wneud wrth ymchwilio i fylbiau’r gwanwyn! Mae’r gwyddonwyr wedi gweld bod tymereddau ar draws y byd yn codi, a bod patrwm glawiad yn newid hefyd.

Gallai tywydd cynhesach a rhagor o law helpu’r crocysau a’r cennin Pedr i dyfu, ond mae cynhesu byd-eang hefyd yn golygu bydd mwy o dywydd eithafol – eira trwm, stormydd, llifogydd a sychder!

Rydyn ni wedi gweld llawer o lifogydd a mwy o eira yn y DU dros y blynyddoedd diwethaf. Llynedd, cyhoeddodd y Swyddfa Dywydd taw 2012 oedd yr ail flwyddyn fwyaf gwlyb yn y DU ers dechrau cofnodi, a’r flwyddyn wlypaf erioed yn Lloegr.

Mae nifer o’r gwyddonwyr gorau yn cytuno bod lefelau llygredd yn cyfrannu at gynhesu byd-eang, felly beth allwn ni ei wneud i helpu?

Defnyddio ynni’n effeithiol! Os ydyn ni’n defnyddio llai o ynni, rydyn ni’n creu llai o lygredd. Sut? Gallwn ni wneud pethau bach syml bob dydd i arbed llawer o ynni gartref neu yn yr ysgol. Er enghraifft, mae diffodd y teledu neu’r cyfrifiadur pan fydd neb yn ei ddefnyddio yn arbed llawer o ynni!

Beth arall allwch chi ei wneud i arbed ynni? Beth am drafod yn y dosbarth? Gallech chi hefyd edrych ar y cyflwyniad yma ar gynhesu byd eang – mae rhai syniadau eraill yma am arbed ynni.

Os oes diddordeb gyda chi mewn dysgu beth arall allwch chi ei wneud ar gyfer Wythnos Hinsawdd, ewch i’r wefan.

Eich cwestiynau, fy atebion:

Thorneyholme RC Primary School PP, We were off on Wednesday afternoon, and our mystery blubs are growing.  Prof P: Can you guess what they are yet Thorneyholme or are they still a mystery?

Lakeside Primary Sorry about all the non recorded dates.  Prof P: That’s okay! Sometimes I have to miss a day recording too. Keep up the good work.

Ysgol Capelulo We have not got any flowers yet :(  Prof P: Don’t be sad Ysgol Capelulo, my plants haven’t got flowers yet either… I am sure they will come soon.

RAF Benson Primary School Some our daffodils and crocuses have started growing.  Prof P: That’s great news!

Newport Primary School It has been quite good weather here this week with no rain and some sunshine but the last couple of days have been really cold and quite dull. On Sunday 17th we had an almost spring day and we were all able to get out and have a good time as it was really sunny and felt quite warm.  Prof P: Excellent weather reporting NewportPrimary School! Really detailed, thank you! It has been very cold here in Cardiff too.

Balcurvie Primary School Our big rainfall on Monday was after the half term holiday when it snowed heavily! Great fun for us but not for our poor wee bulbs! Prof P: Sounds like you have been having some extreme weather in Scotland! I am glad you have been enjoying it Balcurvie.

Hanner Tymor Hapus

Postiwyd gan Catalena Angele ar 19 Chwefror 2013
Mae crocysau sy’n tyfu yn y ddaear ger Amgueddfa Genedlaethol Caerdydd yn blodeuo’n barod
Cennin Pedr yn tyfu yn y ddaear ger Amgueddfa Genedlaethol Caerdydd. Mae nhw’n llawer talach na’r cennin Pedr sydd gyda fi mewn potiau!

Gobeithio i chi fwynhau y gwyliau hanner tymor!

Wnaethoch chi gael hwyl y tu allan dros hanner tymor? Pan fydda i yn mynd am dro bydda i’n cadw llygad bob tro am flodau yn tyfu fel sydd gyda fi yn yr ardd... ydych chi wedi gweld blodau cyfarwydd? Gallwch chi fod yn Wyddonydd Gwych unrhyw bryd, wrth chwarae yn yr ardd neu wrth gerdded i’r parc neu i’r ysgol. Dyma rai cwestiynau i’ch helpu chi. Mwynhewch ymchwilio!

Allwch chi weld unrhyw flodau arall yn tyfu? Allwch chi weld cennin Pedr neu grocysau yn tyfu? Ydyn nhw’n dalach neu’n fyrrach na’ch planhigion chi? Ydyn nhw wedi dechrau blodeuo eto?

Anfonodd Kilmaron Special School neges i ddweud eu bod nhw wedi sylwi ar rywbeth diddorol ar iard yr ysgol...

Kilmaron Special School Mae’r cennin Pedr mewn potiau wedi dechrau blaguro ac mae’r plant hefyd yn gweld rhai cennin Pedr yn ymwthio o’r ddaear am y tro cyntaf. Does dim golwg o’r bylbiau crocws eto. Rydyn ni wedi plannu cennin Pedr ar hyd y llwybr at yr ysgol ac yn yr iard chwarae synhwyraidd ac maen nhw’n dalach na phlanhigion Ymddiriedolaeth Edina. Roedden ni’n meddwl efallai eu bod nhw’n fath gwahanol, ond fyddwn ni ddim yn gwybod tan eu bod nhw’n blodeuo.

Ymchwilio gwych gan Kilmaron Special School! Mae cennin Pedr yn y ddaear yn aml yn ymddangos yn gynt na chennin Pedr mewn potiau ac rydw i wedi bod yn pendroni am hyn hefyd! Rydych chi’n gywir hefyd i ddweud bod rhai mathau o gennin Pedr yn tyfu’n gynt. Rheswm posibl arall yw bod y planhigion yn y ddaear yn cael eu gwarchod yn well rhag tywydd oer na’r planhigion mewn potiau. Os yw ein bylbiau yn oeri efallai byddan nhw’n tyfu ychydig yn arafach! Mae hefyd yn bosibl bod y cennin Pedr yn yr iard chwarae wedi cael eu  plannu rai blynyddoedd yn ôl. Mae bylbiau bach fel ein rhai ni yn tyfu’n arafach yn eu blwyddyn gyntaf, ond byddan nhw’n blodeuo eto bob gwanwyn ac efallai y byddan nhw’n tyfu’n gynt flwyddyn nesaf.

Eich cwestiynau, fy atebion:

Coppull Parish Primary School I'm worried that we've done something wrong with our bulbs. You see crocuses and daffodils are sending up shoots in our neighbourhood; but none of ours are peeping through at all. Prof P: Don't worry Coppull Parish School! As I've explained above bulbs in pots often grow slower. I hope you will have some growth very soon, keep sending me updates and let me know how your bulbs get on.

St Joseph's Primary School (Penarth) We are very excited because we have started to notice that some of our bulbs have started to sprout - we can't wait for them to flower. It is half term for us next week so we will be interested to see how our bulbs have grown when we return to school on 18th February! Prof P: I hope you all had a nice break, your bulbs might have grown a lot when you get back!

Darran Park Primary We have growth in all of our pots. Some pots contain more than 1 shoot. They seem to be growing quickly now. The mystery pot is showing lots of growth. We are on half term next week so won't be able to send in any records. Prof P: The mystery bulbs are very exciting aren’t they?

Henllys CIW Primary Some crocus shoots are coming up. Prof P: Thanks for your report Henllys CIW Primary, it won’t be too long now until they flower.

Ysgol Porth Y Felin To pp the plants are again all ok they’ve grown a lot since last Friday you can see the temperature has been quite high and there hasn’t been much water. From Ysgol Porth Y Felin. Prof P: I’m glad your plants are okay, excellent weather reporting too.

Milford Haven Junior School They started to sprout and it’s getting warmer. Prof P: Great news Milford Haven! My bulbs are sprouting too, I can see their leaves but I can’t see any flowers yet.

Rogiet Primary SchoolDear Professor Plant and Baby Bulb, Some of our bulbs have started to appear we hope to see some more after half term. We are looking forward to finding out what our mystery bulb might be. From Year 4. Prof P: HelloRogiet Primary School, I can’t wait to see what my mystery bulbs will look like too.

Ysgol Nant Y Coed The spring bulbs haven't flowered yet but they’re growing. The mystery bulbs are growing the highest. Prof P: I love a good mystery! Do You?

Ysgol Bodafon The weather is getting warmer. Prof P: You are quite right Ysgol Bodafon, hopefully this will help our plants to flower soon.

Rydych chi wedi bod yn anfon adroddiadau tywydd cymysg iawn i fi dros yr wythnosau diwethaf! Cwympodd llawer o eira mewn rhai ysgolion, ond dim mewn ysgolion eraill. Da iawn chi i gyd am anfon eich adroddiadau drwy gydol y tywydd rhewllyd.

Eira mân eira mawr …

Dyma nifer o ysgolion yn cofnodi eira…St. Mary's Catholic Primary School, Ysgol Bwlchgwyn, Ysgol Gynradd Glyncollen, Stanford in the Vale Primary School, Thorneyholme RC Primary School, Coppull Parish Primary School, Freuchie Primary School, Balcurvie Primary School, Ysgol yr Eglwys yng Nghymru Gladestry ac RAF Benson Primary School.

Dyma rhai ysgolion yn dweud wrtha i eu bod nhw ar gau oherwydd yr eira... Manor Primary School, St Joseph's Primary School, Ysgol Gynradd yr Eglwys yng Nghymru Henllys, Ysgol Nant Y Coed, Ysgol Gynradd Rhydypennau ac Ysgol Gynradd Rogiet!

Dyma rhai ysgolion yn gweld ychydig bach o eira, neu ddim eira o gwbl... Diolch i Stepping Stones Short Stay School ac Ysgol Iau Aberdaugleddau am eich adroddiadau.

Ers yr eira, mae nifer o ysgolion wedi cofnodi gwyntoedd uchel, stormydd a llawer o law, ond wrth edrych drwy’r ffenest galla i weld yr haul yn tywynnu – dyna dywydd amrywiol mewn ychydig wythnosau! Mae’r egin cennin Pedr a crocws talaf yn yr ardd yn 7cm o daldra erbyn hyn. Pa mor dal yw eich egin chi?

Cyngor Craff mewn tywydd rhewllyd: Os oes eira neu rew yn eich mesurydd glaw, dewch ag e i’r ystafell ddosbarth i doddi cyn cofnodi. Cofiwch arllwys y d?r allan ar ôl iddo doddi a’i roi yn ôl y tu allan!

Eich cwestiynau, fy atebion:

St Joseph's Primary School (Penarth) Our school was closed last Friday because of snow so we couldn't get in to check on our freezing bulbs. We have noticed, however, that one of our bulbs has started growing whilst the others are snug underneath the compost in their pots. We tried to think about why this might have happened and wondered whether it is because that particular bulb was planted by you, Prof. Plant and maybe you have encouraged it to grow!?    We are pleased to see that the weather has got a bit warmer and are hoping that this means that our bulbs will start to grow. We are very keen to see them flowering!  Prof P: Thanks St Joseph’s! Well, I am very green fingered! It’s very exciting waiting for your flowers to arrive isn’t it?

Rogiet Primary School The bulb pots were full of snow this week, we were worried they would die but Mrs Carter said they would be all right!  Prof P: Don’t worry, Mrs Carter is right, they are very hardy little plants so I’m sure they will be okay.

Ysgol Nant Y Coed We are sorry for sending the records late because school was closed because of the snow last Friday.  Prof P: No problem! Thank you for sending them in when you could.

Stanford in the Vale Primary School Wow... what a bitter cold week, and all the snow we have had! All our bulbs are completely covered in snow... and more snow is expected tonight! Monday's snow/rainfall was frozen, so we brought the recordings inside and allowed to melt! (We hope this was the correct thing to do!) :-)  Prof P: Well done Stanford in the Vale that was exactly the right thing to do!

Gladestry C.I.W. School We have started measuring the few bulbs that have come out. The daffodils and mystery bulbs have come out; we think the mystery bulbs are snowdrops, as they have grown very fast.  Prof P: That’s a very good guess!Keep watching them and let me know if your guess is right.

Balcurvie Primary School One of the extra bulbs that we planted in a pot and left it in the classroom has began to sprout! We were all very excited. We have also had a very wet week!  Prof P: That is exciting Balcurvie! I hope you enjoy watching it grow. I wonder when your outdoor bulbs will catch up?

SS Philip and James Primary School We thought it went well except we forgot to pour out the water once so we counted the amount of water added on the next day. We enjoy doing it, Phil and Jim Team.  Prof P: That’s okay, thanks for letting me know and keep up the good work. I’m glad you’re enjoying it.

Ysgol Y Ffridd Dim Record Dydd Iau oherwydd ysgol wedi cau (Dim Dwr yn yr ysgol).  Prof P:  Athro’r Ardd: Diolch am y wybodaeth gan Ysgol Y Ffridd. Gobeithio bod y d?r wedi trwsio erbyn hyn.

Darran Park Primary 42 of the bulbs have sprouted.  Prof P:  Gosh that’s a lot! Well done Darran Park Primary.

Ysgol Porth Y Felin To pp, plants are all ok the temperature rised alot on Tuesday! there was a storm on Saturday night so there was loads of rain on Monday. Happy planting!!!  Prof P: Great reporting Ysgol Porth Y Felin, hopefully all that rain will help your plants to grow.

Rhydypenau Primary School A very interesting week of weather!  Prof P: I agree!

Cyfri dyddiaur Crocws!

Postiwyd gan Danielle Cowell ar 1 Chwefror 2013
Bydd eich blodau crocws yn porffor gyda anther a stigma oren.

Mae’r crocws yn dechrau blodeuo ddiwedd mis Ionawr, felly bydd eich planhigion chi’n blodeuo unrhyw ddiwrnod! Am gyffrous! Cofiwch edrych ar eich planhigion crocws bob dydd i weld os yw’r blodau wedi agor a chofnodi’r dyddiad a thaldra’r planhigyn.

Bydd blodyn y crocws yn borffor gydag anther a stigma oren (y rhannau yng nghanol y petalau). Gallan nhw dyfu i daldra o 10cm.

Peidiwch â phoeni os nad yw’r blodau wedi ymddangos eto! Bydd y tywydd oer a’r eira dros yr wythnosau diwethaf wedi arafu’r broses. Wrth i’r tymheredd gynhesu gall y blodau ymddangos yn sydyn, felly cadwch lygad arnyn nhw!

Hiâ Cyfeillion Bylbiau!

Rwy'n amau y bydd llawer o'n potiau o dan eira ar gyfer y dyddiau nesaf! Bydd hyn yn golygu y bydd llawer o ysgolion ar gau. Os ydych yn cael eira rhowch nodyn yn yr adran sylwadau pan fyddwch yn anfon eich cofnodion tywydd.

Dilynwch y ddolen hon i weld yr holl gofnodion tywydd sydd wedi cael eu hanfon i'r graddau. Dewiswch ysgol, yna 'tywydd'.

Dyma rai lluniau o fy egin. Byddwch yn gweld bod y rhai wnes i blannu yn hydref 2011 wedi tyfu llawer mwy na'r rhai wnes i blannu hydref 2012.

Os oes gennych egin yn barod, cymerwch olwg ar fy lluniau i helpu gweithio allan beth yw beth.

Dyma fideo sy'n dangos sut y bydd eich egin yn tyfu.

Eich cwestiynau:

St Mary's Catholic Primary School: We have no records for Monday because it was an inset day. Some of our daffodil bulbs have come through the soil. We have taken photographs and will send them by e-mail. Prof.P: I look forward to seeing them St.Mary’s.

Ladybank Primary School: Thank you for our new thermometer! Prof.P: No worries, thanks for letting me know it arrived safely.

Glyncollen Primary School: Our bulbs have started to grow over the holidays. We hope the frost doesn't get to them. Yr.4. Prof.P: Don’t worry year 4, they are quite tough.

SS Philip and James Primary School:
Happy New Year!  A few daffodil shoots are peeping out of the ground and in one or two pots. Quite a few shoots are emerging in the 'Mystery Bulbs' pot and they are a red/green colour compared to the daffodils shoots which are green. Prof.P: How exciting, not seen my mystery bulb shoots yet.

Greyfriars RC Primary School:
Some are sprouting already! All is good. I am really enjoying this project! Prof.P: glad to hear the bulbs are starting to grow and that you are enjoying.

St Joseph's Primary School (Penarth)
Happy New Year Prof.Plant. We have started to notice a few green shoots in some of our pots and are very excited about the plants beginning to grow. We have talked about the weather forecast for next week and think that we may be sending you photos of snow covered pots! (St. Joseph's Primary School, Penarth.) Prof.P: Yes you were right. Some snow in Cardiff but not enough!

Rhydypenau Primary School:
when we got back to school after the Christmas holidays, our rainfall gauge was full, so we must have had a lot of rain in a fortnight. Prof.P: Yes, we had lots of rain over the holidays – a bit too much! Many people had flooding which must have been awful at Christmas.

Henllys CIW Primary:
Some shoots but no flowers. Prof.P: The flowers will come soon.

Auchtertool Primary School:
When we came back from our Christmas break some of our bulbs were showing growth - not only the ones in pots but also some of those we had planted in the ground! Prof.P: Excellent news!

Ysgol Porth Y Felin:
hello p.p the plants are growing quite quickly but we didn't write down Monday because of teacher training. Prof.P: Thanks for letting me know.

Ysgol Nant Y Coed:
This week the bulbs have started to grow, mostly the mystery bulb. The weather was warm at the beginning and at the end it was cold. Prof.P: Great update, Nant Y Coed.

Tynewater Primary School:
We had 50mm of rainfall on Tuesday because we had been on holiday for two weeks and nobody had emptied the rain gauge. Prof.P: Yes, mine was the same. Thanks for noting the reason.

Blwyddyn Newydd Dda - Gwyddonwyr Gwych! Gobeithio chi wedi cael siawns i ymlacio a nawr yn barod i ymchwilio!

Ar yr adeg hon o'r flwyddyn pethau'n dechrau mynd yn gyffrous iawn. Nawr yw'r amser i wylio eich potiau i weld os oes unrhyw beth yn dechrau tyfu. Mae fy egin cennin Pedr eisoes wedi ymddangos! Danfon llun i mi os mae eginech chi wedi dechrau ymddangos.

Gallai gymryd mis arall neu hyd yn oed chwe wythnos tan fy mlodau yn ymddangos. Mae'r cyfan yn dibynnu ar ein tywydd - os yw'n troi'n wirioneddol oer, yna bydd y twf yn arafu. Os bydd yn aros yn gynnes byddant yn tyfu yn gyflymach.

Y cam nesaf... Defnyddiwch y cyflwyniad PowerPoint i ddarganfod sut i gadw cofnodion blodau. Cofiwch fod yn rhaid i bob un ohonoch roi gwybod i mi pan fydd eich blodau ar agor er mwyn derbyn eich Tystysgrif Gwyddonwyr Gwych.

2012 oedd yr ail flwyddyn wlypaf ar gofnod yn y DU a'r gwlypaf erioed yn Lloegr, y Swyddfa Dywydd gyhoeddi.

Mae'r glaw a oedd yn achosi mwy na 8,000 o gartrefi a busnesau i ddioddef llifogydd arwain at gyfanswm o 1,330.7 mm o law ar gyfer y flwyddyn, dim ond 6.6mm byr o'r flwyddyn y DU gwlypaf a gofnodwyd yn 2000 (1337.3mm).

Dadansoddiad gan y Swyddfa Dywydd yn awgrymu y gall y DU yn mynd yn fwy gwlypach fel newid yn yr hinsawdd yn achosi aer cynhesach i gario mwy o dd?r. Dyddiau o law eithafol - glaw disgwyliedig unwaith bob 100 diwrnod - wedi digwydd bob 70 diwrnod yn 2012. Am ragor o wybodaeth am hyn gweler adroddiad hwn gan y Guardian.

Ddeuddeg cwsg

Postiwyd gan Danielle Cowell ar 13 Rhagfyr 2012
Athro’r Ardd yn gwisgo’i het Nadoligaidd.

Ni allaf gredu ei fod ond ddeuddeg cwsg tan Nadolig! Rwyf wedi anfon cerdyn Nadolig atoch chi gyd yn y post. Ddiolch i chi gyd am y gwaith caled rydych wedi ei wneud hyd yn hyn.

Dyma'r chweched wythnos a'r olaf o gofnodi tan Ionawr felli Nadolig Llawen oddi wrth Bwlb bychan a fi.

Rwyf wedi mwynhau'r holl sylwadau a chwestiynau dwi wedi cael yn ystod y flwyddyn hon ac yn edrych ymlaen at ateb mwy yn y Flwyddyn Newydd.

Wyf yn gobeithio bod chi gyd yn cael gwyliau gwych ac yn dychwelyd ym mis Ionawr yn awyddus i weld sut mae eich bylbiau yn ei wneud. Os ydych yn pryderu efallai na fydd eich bylbiau yn ddiogel dros y Nadolig, mynd â nhw adref gyda chi - ond cofiwch fod yn rhaid iddynt gael eu cadw y tu allan!

Mae'r tywydd wedi bod yn oer iawn mewn mannau yn ystod yr wythnos neu ddwy ddiwethaf, ond rhagwelir y bydd yn cael cynhesach. Adroddodd Ysgol Harwell -10 ° c ddydd Iau diwethaf. Oer iawn yn wir! A allwch chi gadarnhau hyn yn gywir?

Fy hoff garol Nadolig yw'r 'Holly and the Ivy' oherwydd ei fod yn cynnwys dau o'n planhigion bytholwyrdd brodorol. Roedd y Celtiaid yn defnyddio planhigion hyn i ddathlu Byrddydd y Gaeaf ac wrth gwrs y maent yn cael eu defnyddio gan Gristnogion i ddathlu'r Nadolig.

Os nad ydych yn gwybod ei fod yma yn y geiriau: http://www.carols.org.uk/the_holly_and_the_ivy.htm

Eich cwestiynau, fy atebion:

Greyfriars RC Primary School: We are really enjoying this! Prof.P: So glad to hear it!

DarranPark Primary: There aren't any signs of growth yet. Prof.P: Give it time; you should see something in January.

GlyncollenPrimary School: We have seen a pattern in our temperatures this week. We have also found out a way to stop our rain gauge from falling over. We hope we don't have any snow next week. From Glyncollen year 4 Prof.P: Great to hear you are seeing patterns in your weather data and that you have found a way to stop your rain gauge from falling over. Please let me know how you do it?

BalcurviePrimary School: We have had a lot of ice this week and freezing temperatures. We also had snow over last weekend and on Thursday. Prof.P: I hope it gets warmer for you at the weekend!

St Joseph's Primary School (Penarth): We have noticed how much colder is has got this week. There has been some ice on our plant pots and we feel really sorry for the poor bulbs! Prof.P: Don’t worry too much I’m sure they will be fine.

KilmaronSpecialSchool: Records for rainfall on days with negative temperatures may not be correct as the water had frozen and expanded so reading may be higher than actual water collected Prof.P: Thanks for letting me know Kilmaron; I will make a note of it. If it happens again melt it before you measure. Thanks

Ysgol Pencae: It rained cats and dogs on Friday and was milder. Did it rain more in Cardiff? Prof.P: We only had 10mms of rain in Cardiff a quarter of what you recorded!

Adar ac aeron.

Aderyn du yn bwyta afal sur.
Ben to rhewllyd.

Eira wedi gostwng yn Ysgol Gynradd Ladybank yn yr Alban ac yn Ysgol Nether Kellet mae’r glaw wedi rhewi yn eu mesurydd glaw! Yma yng Nghaerdydd, rydym wedi dechrau gweld rhew yn y boreau.

Ar yr adeg hon o'r flwyddyn, mae’r adar yn llwglyd iawn ac yn dechrau bwydo ar aeron. Dechreuodd yr aderyn du yma bwyta'r afalau surion oddi wrth y goeden ar waelod fy ngardd. Nid wyf yn torri llawr y goeden fel ei fod yn ffynhonnell dda o fwyd i'r adar yn y gaeaf. Mae hwn yn aderyn du benywaidd - maent yn frown ac nid oes ganddynt bigau melyn.

Peidiwch ag anghofio i fwydo adar dros y gaeaf. Gwelwch y link yma ermwyn dysgu sut  sut i wneud cacen adar gyflym. Wnaeth chwe deg pump o ysgolion anfon mewn cofnodion tywydd yr wythnos hon! Diolch o galon i bawb ohonoch a anfonodd yn eich recordiadau.

Your questions, my answers:

TorView Community School: Please accept the above data as being CORRECT for TorView CommunitySchool. The previous 'temperature' details were wrongly submitted in degrees 'Fahrenheit' instead of 'centigrade.' Prof.P: Well spotted! Thanks for letting me know, I will remove the Fahrenheit data from your charts.

Medlar with Wesham CE Primary School: Hi professor plant there has a little bit of rain so we have not had to water them much. They are not growing yet but they are staying healthy. We are being very patient but we just can't wait for them to grow. Prof.P: Good things come to those who wait! It’s so nice when the flowers open in the spring. It cheers me up every year!

RogietPrimary School: How are you professor plant? It has been very cold here in Rogiet. Prof.P: I’m good thanks Rogiet, been cold here too, but I’m wrapping up warm. I hope you are too?

Your school: Westwood CP School: When I measure the rainfall on a Monday do I count the rainfall that fell over the weekend too. Or should I empty the contents when I get to school on Monday and measure at our usual time of 2pm? St. Mary's RC Primary School (Lancashire): What happens on Monday when the rain gauge includes Saturdays and Sunday? Prof.P: Hi Westwood & St Mary’s! Good question! You should measure the rainfall that fell over the weekend, that way we will know exactly how much rain has fallen that week.

LadybankPrimary School: We think our thermometer is broken because it was snowing today and it read 15 degrees. Prof.P: I will send you a new one immediately. Enjoy the snow! I’m very jealous.

Ysgol Pencae (Conwy): We had lots of rain over the weekend. The weather has got colder. We are measuring our rainfall in ml with a homemade gauge, is this correct? Prof.P: Hi Ysgol Pencae. Great that you have managed to build your own rain gauge! Please could you measure the rainfall in mm rather than ml. Everyone across the country measures in mm so in order to compare we need it in mms. See this video about how to do this. You will be able to convert the mls back into mm by pouting the amounts you measured into your rain gauge and seeing what the mms are. Hope that makes sense. Thanks

Ysgol Capelulo: This week has been really cold and wet. It was very wet on Monday and really cold on Thursday, on Wednesday and Thursday there was no rainfall. This week in Wales it has been very windy. We enjoy taking other people out to help us take the readings. Goodbye. :) Prof.P: Great idea getting others involved, glad you are enjoying!

KilmaronSpecialSchool: We have had to move the location of our rain funnel as one of the pupils in another class was caught emptying it out. It is now hidden behind a bush outside our classroom window. Prof.P: Oh dear, good plan to hide it!

St Joseph's Primary School (Penarth): We have noticed how much the temperature has fallen this week and we are concerned about our poor bulbs getting too cold! Prof.P: Don’t worry they will be expecting it to be cold at this time of year.

Greyfriars RC Primary School: One of our pots has been knocked over we are worrying about vandalism. Prof.P: Oh no! If you re-plant them they are often fine. If the vandals are from outside the school perhaps you should think if there is anywhere safer around the school? If they are from in the school you should talk to them.

Your school: Ysgol Porth Y Felin: To PP the plants are fine we have 2 plants that have started to grow and the temperatures are quite close apart from Thursday, when it was very cold. Prof.P: Gosh growing already!

St Mary's CatholicPrimary School: It has been very cold this week; we hope our bulbs are tucked up nice and warm in their pots. Prof.P: I’m sure they will be fine!

Thorneyholme RC Primary School: Yo prof plant hows it rollin'!!!!????? Cute little bulbs are part of our school now. Prof.P: Great to hear they have settled in.

Nether Kellet Primary School: Today the water froze cool as ice!! Prof.P: Brrrrgh! To get the measurement you need to bring it in to defrost to water.

Diolch

"It's beggining to feel at lot like Winter!"

Postiwyd gan Danielle Cowell ar 30 Tachwedd 2012

What a week! More floods and now turning Frosty!

The highest rain record this week came from Thorneyholme RC Primary School and Westwood CP School both with 100mms of rain. As WestwoodSchool pointed out this week they are very lucky to not live by a river. Some schools who received less rain but did get flooding in their locality.

Nant Y Coed School explained:  We've actually had 23mm of rain since yesterday. There was lots of flooding in the area and some of the teachers couldn't get home at all and some didn’t get home until nearly midnight.

Study the maps to see why. If you click on the option that says 'Terrain' in Google maps you will be able to see all the contours of the mountains and hills. If you follow this link to where Ysgol Nant Y Coed school is situated you will see that when the rain falls in the surrounding area it all collects and runs to  Llandudno Junction area - so if there is very heavy rainfall the area may flood. If you look at the Environment Agency flood map it highlights the areas that suffer from flooding and you will see that the areas around does flood just as the school reported.

Take a look at different areas in your locality and see if you can predict if or why certain areas flood. Then visit the environment agency flood map to see where the areas of high risk are.

This link has some animations about the different factors that cause a flood.

Oakfield Primary asks: Is the rainfall heavy for this time of year? Prof.P: Good question! Our records show that the average rainfall since we began recording are around 150mm of rain in November in Wales. We can't compare this figure until the end of the month but in some places 100mm of rain have fallen in a day! So yes it is high for this time of year.

Your questions, my answers:

Thorneyholme RC Primary School: The bulb is so cute!!
########## hash tag (no reason at all someone in class is obsessed with hash tags!) See you next week p plant. Thorneyholme xoxo Prof.P: High #Thorneyholme #Prof.P

Ysgol Capelulo: It rained a lot on Thursday but it was very windy so not a lot of rain went into the rain collector, but there was a lot of rain on Thursday night. It also rained a lot on Wednesday night. The temperature on Tuesday was quiet warm. Prof.P: Great recording!

Stanford in the ValePrimary School: What a week.... Floods on Wednesday, Thursday high winds and blue skies Friday!
Stanford Gardening Club Prof.P: Yes a very crazy week of weather!

Stepping StonesShortStaySchool
We have wondered about the rainfall records - we were putting the rain gauge out each morning, but then thought this isn't recording all the rain at night we have had recently? We are now leaving it out all the time in between emptying it at about 2:30 each afternoon. We hope this is ok?  Prof.P: Great, well spotted, I leave mine out so it collects all the rain too then just empty it once a day.

Ysgol Porth Y Felin. Hello P.P we are very amazed about Thursday because of all the floods!!! There aren’t many differences between the temperatures but there’s quite a lot in the rainfall! Happy planting!!!!  Prof.P: Yes so much rain falling some days!

GlyncollenPrimary School
We have had a lot of rain this week and the strong wind blew our water gauge down so we hope our rainfall measurement is accurate. Prof.P: Thanks for letting me know, this can’t be helped sometimes mine falls over too!

St Joseph's Primary School (Penarth) we have been very excited about taking measurements this week. We were interested to see that, so much rain fell on Tuesday night, our car park was flooded! Prof.P: Gosh, I hope none of the cars were flooded, glad you’re enjoying!

Greyfriars RC Primary School
I love the plants there doing very well. Prof.P: Great news Greyfriars!

CadoxtonPrimary School
Friday rainfall could have been more than 50 ml but measurer stopped at 50. Prof.P: Gosh, perhaps you need a bigger rain gauge?

LadybankPrimary School
Problem of people standing on our plants but we are working to get it sorted. Prof.P: Oh dear! I do hope you manage to sort it out – please let me know.

Thanks

Prof.P
