Big Pit explores all aspects of mining, from strikes to disasters, from women in mining communities to the children forced to work underground in the nineteenth century.

Underground tours run daily between 10 am - 3.30 pm.
Last bookable tour 3 pm.
Underground closed for maintenance during some dates in January.
We will send out a Planning Your Visit guide and a confirmation form when your booking has been made.

Children of the Revolution
Children of the Revolution is a multi-media learning resource produced by Newport City Council and Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum Wales. It is essentially an historical investigation into life and work in a new industrial town (Blaenavon) in the middle of the 19th century.
